Kelsey Graduated!

Well here I am with my eldest granddaughter graduating high school on the 25th of May, 2012. It was a very exciting time but yet it made me realize how very fast life passes us by. So we should all "Live, Laugh, Love and Cook" always! Remember the good and see the good in everyone.
Kelsey was born in 1993, what a wonderful blessing she was and has been since. We have one other granddaughter Reese who is 10 and she is totally opposite of Kelsey. But she is also one of my biggest blessings. I wanted to throw Kelsey a graduation party for family and close friends. So on May 26th I did, and what a wonderful evening it was! We had live entertainment, a great meal and a wonderful slideshow. I know I will treasure this wonderful weekend always and I think Kelsey feels the same. Remembering Granny

I was chatting with Adam today on myspace and he informed me that Jemimah had not seen anything new on my blog in a while. Well I have been very busy, working on our church directory (praise the Lord it is finished). JK has had surgery and I have been helping with my grandgirls Kelsey & Reese. But I am back and maybe now I can do better.
Blake brought me some fresh shelled pintos beans, corn on the cob, & tomatoes Sunday night from his grandfather's garden. He knows how I love fresh veggies. Today I started putting them up. Washing, washing, washing & washing, then into the pot to blanch for a few minutes, then into cold water to cool down, and finally into bags for freezing. Then I cut the corn off the cob and made my Granny's famous and wonderful baked corn. Today made me think a lot about my Granny. She was a wonderful and remarkable woman. Her name was Bessie Mae Grace Jones. She had a rare eye disease when she was 30 years old and was legally blind. She continued to do as she always had and that is to cook, clean and take care of her family. She was always cooking and everything that she made was wonderful. We all especially loved her chicken and dumplings. I watched her as I grew up, as she put together all of those wonderful meals with a pinch of this and smidgen of that, with a cup-towel hanging over her shoulder. Granny is where my love for cooking (and flowers) comes from. People ask me all the time to give them receipes and it is hard for me because I learned to cook from a lady that was blind so we never measured anything. Granny was proof that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, and that when we love something that we do so much and the people that we do it for even more that most all things are possible. Granny was a big blessing in my life and I do miss her.

7 things about ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok Jemimah let's see:


1. My favorite all time meal as a kid was big butter beans, spaghetti, fried potatoes and corn bread.(yes all at the same time). Do you think that was enough carbs? Wonder if that's why I am so addicted to carbs today?

2. I dont' like goodbye's, they break my heart!

3. I can and do laugh at myself alot (along with my adult children)

4. I wish I had gone to college. Here are few things I think I would have enjoyed doing.

5. I miss my mom & June(my stepdad) more than people know.

6. I think friendships between women is one of God's greatest gifts to us.

7. People who are always late and always procrastnating absolutley drive me CRAZY!

Landscaping

I love a pretty landscape. We bought our dream house March 22, 2006. I was not happy with the landscape at all. It had a lot of what I call the "poodle look"! I had three different people come to give me some ideas and a price. WOW! They gave me prices but they were all way more than I could or wanted to spend. One was $3000.00 just for a few things in the front and that was not removing any of the big "poodle bushes". Well I forgot about it last year. But as soon as I saw the first daffodil the fever hit me again. I had to get it done. I talked to my husband about it and a dear friend of my sons, whom is also like a son to me. They decided that they could do it for me and started making their plans as to when they would get started. Well before they could get started Kevin got a call and had to leave for a job in Dell, AR. So now the job was all on Blake. He started by digging up and cutting down the things I hated and then Me, him and his family took off to Sterlington, LA to buy all that I wanted to go in the beds in the front and back of the yard. I got a varity of shrubs, hydrangeas, daisy gardenias, cedar and holly, and a japanese maple. We had a trailer and a truck load full. It all looked so good under my carport. Then we had to buy peat moss, top soil, fertilizer, weed killer, mulch, and edging. I tell you I am so pleased with his work. I could not be more satisfied if a professional had done it. I am very grateful to Blake for all his hard work and for helping me out so much. My husband works away all the time and my children all live else where. So Blake, Candy and their girls have truly been a blessing to me.

I am ashame of myself for not mentioning my son Matt that came in for a few days last week and helped Blake to finish up. He really worked hard and he was very appreciative to Blake for doing so much to help his mom out. Thanks son! I love you and I really do appreciate all you did.
